It’s all about you

Do you ever sit back at the end of the day and think “where has that day gone”? How did you even get to that point in the day without considering a little bit of time for yourself.

We sometimes plan our weeks and days around kids, partners, families and work. It’s easy to lose sight of ourselves. Think about how much time you set aside for you every day. Do you prioritise yourself? If not it’s time to start!
Your me time doesn’t need to include a goal or an end result. Me time is just an escape from the busy lives we’re living. The time you spend on yourself is the goal!
Without realising we have sacrificed a lot of the things we love this year. A lot of us may have lost our daily/weekly routines. We no longer take that 45 minutes of me time going to BikeRowSki, meeting friends for coffee, playing golf or going for a long walk after dropping the kids to school. Our me time may now be someone else’s time. Maybe it’s turned into home-schooling, working longer hours or cleaning the house because you’re looking at the to do list building up around you. Somewhere along the way, we started to believe that taking care of ourselves was being selfish. However, selfish suggests that the world revolves around you, self-care acknowledges that it includes you!

We are all spending more time at home but yet, it is harder to make time for ourselves. Me time feels non-existent and if it does exist guilt seems to follow. However, this me time is not just important for you, it is important for the people around you.

It may be something simple like a bath in the evening, a morning walk with your favourite podcast or even a hot cup of coffee and a good book. Your 45 minutes of self-care should be a non-negotiable. Make an appointment with yourself and find clarity.Have you replaced your 45-minute exercise routine or your hour-long coffee date? Can you remember the last time you did something for you? It’s time to start prioritizing that me time again.
You may think you don’t need this time; you may think you never had this time; however, the most important relationship is the one you have with yourself!
