Introduction
This blog is for anyone wondering how we create a safe, supported environment at BikeRowSki.
Whether you’ve never trained before or you’re returning after some time away, you will be seen and supported from the moment you walk through the doors.
Starting Something New Can Feel Daunting
Starting something new is not always easy.
Walking into a studio for the first time can feel uncomfortable or uncertain.
At BikeRowSki, we understand that.
That’s why we focus on making you feel welcome straight away.
From the moment you arrive:
- We aim to know your name
- We support you while you get signed in
- We stay with you at reception while you set up your Polar account
- We give you a quick look at the room so you know what to expect
It’s about helping you feel supported and at ease before the class even begins.
Educating, Motivating and Inspiring
We take pride in being coaches, not just motivators.
In every class, we focus on how you move.
Our number one priority is keeping you safe and preventing any chance of injury.
We are there to motivate and inspire you, but always with a focus on quality movement so everyone feels confident and secure.
This means:
- We guide you through each movement
- We help correct your form and explain our “why”
- We make sure you feel safe on each machine
For new members, we usually start you on the rower for the first 10 sessions.
This is because:
- The rower is the most technical
- It’s easier to learn when you’re fresh
- It builds confidence early on
We want you to feel comfortable before anything else.
Using Our Heart Rate System to Support You
At BikeRowSki, we use a heart rate system called Polar Flow.
This gives live feedback during class, including:
- Current heart rate
- Percentage effort
- Calories
For us as coaches, it’s a simple way to understand how your body is responding.
It helps us:
- Guide your intensity
- Stop you from pushing too hard too soon
- Keep your training safe and steady
There’s no pressure to chase numbers.
It’s simply a tool to support you.
Support Doesn’t End When Class Finishes
What happens after class matters just as much.
We use this time to check in and support you in your progress.
This might include:
- Helping you better understand positions on the ergs
- Adjusting heart rate zones
- Answering any questions you have
- Guiding you on your next steps
It’s a chance to make sure you feel confident and comfortable moving forward.
The BikeRowSki Philosophy
At BikeRowSki, everything we do is built around helping you feel seen, safe, and supported while training.
There’s no expectation to be at a certain level.
You’re met exactly where you are.
