We Believe the Best Experience Sits Somewhere in the Middle
We know some of our members love seeing their numbers and challenging themselves. Others never look at the screen. Both can enjoy exactly the same class.
That’s why we program differently. Everything we program has one purpose: creating a shared experience where everyone can succeed.
In our BikeRowSki classes, we coach using rate rather than pace. Everyone moves together. The intensity is down to the individual — nothing is expected. Someone new to exercise and someone who’s been training for years can sit beside each other, following the same coach and the same rhythm, while working at completely different intensities.
We also program using time rather than distance. Everyone starts together. Everyone finishes together. Nobody feels left behind because someone else has already finished. The room moves as one.
The same thinking applies to BikeRowSki Strength. We’ve deliberately reduced unnecessary complexity. You’ll work through six movement patterns using dumbbells and simple equipment, letting you focus on learning movement well before worrying about lifting more. We don’t fill sessions with complicated combinations or exercises that leave people wondering whether they’re doing them correctly. Instead, we focus on helping you become stronger in a way that feels approachable, enjoyable and repeatable.
When You Want Something More Individual
Sometimes people need more personal support — that’s exactly why we created Semi-Private Personal Training.
It’s still built around the same welcoming environment, but every program is tailored to the individual. Whether you’re returning after an injury, building confidence with strength training, or working towards a specific goal, your coach can adapt everything to suit your needs while you train in a small, supportive group. It combines personalised coaching with the encouragement that comes from training alongside others.
This is a big part of where BikeRowSki sits in the fitness world — deliberately between performance training and casual cardio, rather than at either end of it.
Fitness Should Adapt to People — Not the Other Way Around
Too often, people feel they have to fit into a particular style of training. We see it differently: exercise should adapt to the person. Some days you’ll want to push yourself. Some days you’ll simply want to move. Some people love performance data. Others just want to leave feeling happier than when they arrived. A great fitness experience should have room for all of that.
What This Looks Like in a Session
In practice it is simple. The coach calls a rate — say 22 on the rower, or a steady cadence on the bike — and a length of time. Everyone in the room moves at that rate for that time. What differs is how much force each person puts behind it, and that is where the effort actually lives.
The result is that the room looks and sounds like it is working together, because it is, and yet nobody is being measured against the person beside them. A first-timer holding a light, comfortable 22 and a strong rower driving hard at 22 are both doing the session exactly right.
Distance and pace still appear on the monitor, and you are very welcome to watch them if you find them motivating. They simply are not the instruction.
The BikeRowSki Way
At BikeRowSki, we’re not trying to sit at one end of the fitness spectrum. We’re creating a place where people with different goals, different backgrounds and different levels of experience can train together — that’s why we sit in the middle.
Our coaching provides guidance. Our programming creates togetherness. Our community makes people feel like they belong. Because we believe the best fitness program isn’t the one built on the sexiest movements or the complexity that puts most people off. It’s the one that’s accessible and actually gets you results, without making you feel like you can’t keep up.
If judging your own effort is new to you, the RPE scale gives you language for it, and understanding effort without fear explains why “enough” is usually less than you would assume.
Let’s Summarise
Fitness doesn’t have to become your whole identity to make a positive difference in your life. Sometimes it simply needs to be the best hour of your day — somewhere you feel supported, somewhere you can challenge yourself if you choose to, somewhere that welcomes you exactly as you are.
That’s where BikeRowSki sits. And that’s exactly where we want to be.
