The start of the New Year may not be what we had envisaged. Work environments have changed, you’re spending more time away from friends or colleagues, your children may be a part of your remote workspace, along with adjusting to being away from your normal exercise and food routines. That doesn’t mean your personal goals have to change.

Have you heard the saying “every cloud has a silver lining”? Stoics call this type of thinking “art of acquaintance” (to accept rather than fight every little thing). Amor fati (translated from Latin as ‘a love of one’s faith) can be a recipe for happiness and joy.

You can’t control what happens, but you can control how you react’ I thought I created this quote myself, but turns out the Greek philosopher, Epictetus, said it over a thousand years ago. What exactly does the motto mean to me? Are you similar to me or could this motto help you?

It’s widely known that exercise plays a huge roll in reducing stress for so many. The hectic office environment, the busy parent at home, the long hours of study, the never ending notifications on your mobile phone… everyone needs that daily 45 minutes to themselves so they can prioritize their health and well being, physically and mentally.

People talk about wanting to be fitter. That can mean a number of things depending on the person though. It could be seeing some weight loss on the weighing scales, it could be having the ability to walk, run or cycle farther or it could be someone just feeling more comfortable in their own skin as a result of being that little bit more active.
